As a flat bed truck driver, I must say this company is doing something right re : personnel management. Many places I deliver have yard people who are nice to be around, who do their jobs, and understand we drivers have to get loaded/offloaded in a reasonable amount of time. A few places treat drivers like garbage.
This customer's employees, at least the two who came out to offload my truck went above and beyond. As I was doing my terminal input showing arrivial, the two guys were removing bungees, 2" rachet straps- including winding up the 2" straps, etc.
The new guy then helped me roll tarps; its literally 66% faster with two guy, one at each end.
From the time I logged is as at consignee till the last skid was pulled and all my gear stowed away, only 65 minutes elapsed. This type of load is normally 150-180 minutes to complete. The fork guy hustled, rolling maybe 2/10th of a mile for every three tips back anf forth.
I gave the fork guy a $20 tip so he and new guy could get lunch. I also made a note of the excellent workmenship of those two
So, if anybody is in need of work and who WILL work and, if this company is hiring, they should apply . If the employees are this kind to drivers they may never meet again, I counting that 1/they are good people and 2/ the company must value good employees and their management style makes for satisfied and productive employees.
Hell, if I didn't live near Pittsburgh, I'd apply here.
